Ella aurait eu 100 ans le 25 avril. Pour célébrer cet anniversaire, un coffret propose exactement 100 chansons enregistrées par la First Lady of Jazz (1917-1996). Pour un prix des plus modestes (17 euros), l’amateur peut se mettre en joie en passant en revue toutes les facettes de son talent protéiforme ;  les titres étant répartis en cinq chapitres : les standards enregistrés dans les années 60 ( Body and Soul, Misty, Black Coffee…),le grand répertoire (Berlin, Gershwin, Ellington ) les airs de Broadway (Just one of those things, Early Autumn…), le duo avec Armstrong (Summertime, Cheek to Cheek…) et les concerts publics ( Rome, Chicago, Berlin…). Le collectionneur avisé regrettera l’absence d’informations discographiques (dates des enregistrements, compositions des formations) mais le lecteur des DNJ peut, grâce à la gentillesse du chef d’orchestre de cet ensemble, notre confrère Lionel Eskenazi, disposer d’informations sur les disques originels d’où sont extraites ces chansons(voir ci-dessous). Un cadeau idéal pour (re)découvrir une artiste majeure et enjouée.
